Lombard, Ill.: With September being National Suicide Prevention Month, HaHaMen Improv and Sketch Comedy Troupe has partnered with Live Out Loud Charity for this month’s edition of Good for the Soul. Good for the Soul is a monthly free admission comedy night that features a charity or cause. The September edition will be Monday, September 16, at 7:30PM.

HaHaMen Improv and Sketch Comedy Troupe, a faith-based clean comedy team based in the west suburbs, does both private bookings as well as free, service-based performances. Most recently, HaHaMen partnered with DuPage Pads to perform free of charge for the guests that stay in the various churches in DuPage County. Good for the Soul is another arm of HaHaMen’s dedication to service through comedy.

“We founded the team over five years ago as a way to use comedy to help people,” said Dave Ebert, co-founder of HaHaMen. “Doing the shows at the shelters, and doing Good for the Soul, we’re just out there trying to break down barriers, bring people together, and share joy, all through laughter.”

“My personal struggles with depression and battling suicidal urges makes September an important month in my calendar,” added Ebert, whose family was impacted by a suicide this spring. “Live Out Loud Charity does some amazing work with awareness, education, advocacy, and focusing on building self-esteem. Their initials, L.O.L., fits right in with our mission. It’s a perfect partnership!”

Sherrie Gearheart founded Live Out Loud Charity (LOLC) in 2010, after losing her childhood friend to suicide. He was only nineteen years old at the time of his death. Since its inception, LOLC has educated millions of individuals globally on the signs of depression and suicide prevention. Live Out Loud Charity focuses on core character development, anti-bullying, and suicide prevention. Gearheart holds ten certificates in suicide prevention and has served as Miss United Nations in 2015
